A Brief Introduction of North China Electric Power University (Beijing)

  A close neighbor of Badaling highway, adjoining Olympic Park on the east and  Zhongguancun high technology zone and Shangdi Information Industry base on the west, North China Electric Power University is located in Deshengmenwaizhuxinzhuang , Beijing. It is found in beautiful surroundings and fresh air.

  As one of the key universities in China with a history of more than 40 years, this university has been fostering talents in the areas of engineering technology, management, economics and the social sciences. There are more than 8500 students with over 600 graduate students and doctor students.

 
It has the following departments: the Department of Electric Power Engineering, the Department of Thermal Power Engineering, the Department of Information Engineering, the Department of Automation, the Department of Computer Science and Technology, the School of Business Administration, the Department of Economics and Trade, the Department of Finance and Accounting, the Department of Law and Politics and the Department of Foreign Languages. There is one center for post-doctoral studies . The university offers one post-doctoral project program, 7 doctoral programs, 17 master’s degree programs and 24 bachelor’s degree programs. It has been authorized to admit overseas students.  Covering a floor space of 11 thousand square meters, the library has a collection of over a one million volumes.

  There are five key ministerial subjects, namely power system and its automation, power plant thermal power engineering, theoretical electric engineering, industrial automation and technological economics. Meanwhile there are three key ministerial laboratories called Power System Intelligence Protection and Control, Industrial Process Simulation and Control, State Monitoring and Fault Diagnosis in Electric Device.

  Most of the teachers, half of whom are professors and associate professors, have got degrees of post-doctor, doctor and master respectively. One of the first members of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Professor Yang Qixun is the founder of the field of power system micro-computer protection and automation in China. Professor Yang Yihan and Song Zhiping are prominent supervisors for doctoral candidates in the field of electric power. The university has set up cooperative relations with universities and institutes in more than 20 countries and regions such as Britain, USA, France, Japanese and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.

  It has undertaken thousands of scientific research programs particularly including those financed by the National Natural Science Funds, National Key Problem Projects, and international cooperative projects, among which nearly one hundred projects have been recognized with national and provincial and ministerial awards. Dozens of techniques have been transferred into production with an annual output of 550 million Yuan.

NORTH CHINA ELECTRIC POWER UNIVERSITY

Founded in 1958, North China Electric Power University (NCEPU) is one of the key universities affiliated with the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China. It has campuses in Beijing and Baoding, Hebei province.

For more than forty years development, NCEPU has become a comprehensive university with a distinctive industrial feature, but having a wide variety of disciplines such as Engineering, Economics, Management, Arts, Science, Law, etc. with Engineering as its leading one. At present, NCEPU comprising 15 schools and offers 45 bachelor’s degree programs, 29 master’s degree programs, 7 doctorate degree programs and 2 postdoctoral programs. In addition, the university has been evaluated by academic authorities of the State Council and granted a status to hold a key national level discipline. The university has already held 6 provincial and ministerial level disciplines and 4 laboratories with such weight.

The library of the university covers an area of 39,300 m² with a collection of more than one million books.

With over 25,000 students from all over the world, NCEPU has a large resource of teaching staff to match them. There are 1163 professional teachers, including 4 Academicians of China Engineering Academy, 565 Professors and Associate Professors as well as 54 PhD supervisors. At the same time, foreign teachers are annually invited as a helpful supplement to our staff. Many teachers have made outstanding achievements in both teaching and research in their disciplinary areas, and thus many prizes have been awarded for their exceptional performance by some provincial governments and ministerial authorities.

Transportation

The Beijing campus of North China Electric Power University is located in Deshengmenwai zhuxinzhuang, Beijing. It is next to the Badaling Highway, close to Zhongguancun High Technology Zone and Shangdi Information Industry Base.  It neighbors the National Olympic Park  ------ the center of 2008 Beijing Olympic Game.   It is quiet and beautiful with unique architectures and fresh air. A number of bus lines (No.345, No.845, No.820) run close to the University, and can take passengers either to the subway or to the city center.

      The Baoding campus of North China Electric Power University is located in the downtown of Baoding, Hebei Province, which is in the central area of district surrounded by Beijing, Tianjin and Shijiazhuang.  It is 150 km south of Beijing.  Baoding is an old cultural city with a long history and is well known for its warm and friendly local fashion and a variety of rich cultural resources.  It takes about one and half an hour from Beijing, Tianjin or Shijiazhuang to Baoding by taking the very convenient intercity express train. The campus is beautiful, tidy and clean.

The university owns advanced network centers, computing centers, multimedia classrooms, large scale simulating fieldwork bases and large modern libraries. Besides, the university owns modern playgrounds including standard basketball, volleyball, badminton and tennis courts, etc.  The apartments of international students are supervised in a standardized way and are equipped with bathrooms (for 24 hours bathing), air-conditioners, refrigerators, color TVs, Internet connections, telephones, desks, closets and other furniture. There are shared kitchen and laundry rooms in the apartment building. Banks, post office, shopping center and supermarket are close to the campus.  All these provide the international students with a comfortable study and living environment.

Admission Qualifications

Chinese Language requirements:

1、  Undergraduate students: HSK test – Elementary C or above；

2、  Those who had learned his/her compulsory courses of high school in Chinese language need not take the HSK Test, but you should submit the copy of the certification letter that are offered by the Chinese embassy or consulate.

★The university can provide preparatory (language) course for overseas students to help them pass the HSK test.

How to Apply

1.Applicants can ask for the Application Form from the school of International Education of the University or download the form from the website of the University.

2.Applicants should submit the Application form together with the following documents to the school of International Education of the university by registered mail or e-mail 2 months in advance.

1)      Resume, Diploma and Transcript

a.       Highest diploma, courses the applicant has taken and transcripts for Certificate Program applicant

b.       Highest diploma, research achievements and expected research aspects for Advanced Certificate Program applicant

c.       Highest diploma, academic degree obtained and original copy of transcripts for Bachelor’s, Master’s and Ph.D.degree applicant

2) Recommendations

a.       High school graduates who apply for a Bachelor’s degree program should submit recommendations by their former school or working unit.

b.       Certificate program applicants should submit recommendations by associate professors or higher

c.       Master’s and Ph.D.degree and advanced certificate program applicants should submit recommendations by two professors or associate professors

3) Physical Examination Record for Foreigners

The Physical Examination Record for Foreigners, with photo of the applicant affixed and stamp of the hospital, must be completed and signed by a medical doctor after a physical examination of the applicant. A copy of the Physical Examination Record for Foreigners should be submitted to the school at the time of application, and the original can be brought with the student to the university.

  4) Financial Guarantee Form

     The guarantor should complete the Financial Guarantee Form with his information including relationship to the applicant, position, telephone and address.

  5) Guarantee Form in China

     The applicant’s guarantor in China should complete the Guarantee Form in China attached with his information including relationship to the applicant, position, telephone and address.

3.Once approved, the applicants will receive an Admission Notice, and the Visa Application for Foreigners Wishing to Study in China (JW202 Form). The applicants may obtain a student Visa (X-Visa) from the Chinese embassy or consulate.
