Leadership & Team Dynamics 2 (11 Units)
Aims:

  • Become aware of (awareness.)
  • Analyze group processes (analysis.)
  • Decide how to lead (decision making.)

Focus:

  • Motivation
  • Self-awareness.
  • **Emotional Intelligence (EI.)
  • Interpersonal communication.

Application:

    • Workgroup formation & development.
    • Group decision making.
    • Role & task.
    • Leadership & authority.

*Aimed at enabling organizational members to become aware of and analyze group processes, in order to decide how to lead and follow with precision in teams. Focus on self-awareness, emotional intelligence and inter-personal communication.


Leadership ? Higher 3 (7 Units):

  • Ability to motivate.
  • Hierarchical structure.
  • Personal qualities of leaders.
  • Principles of leadership.
  • Academic qualifications/Experience.
  • Taking an Integrated Multidisciplinary Approach.
  • Competition versus Co-operation ? Dolphin approach.
  • **Emotional Intelligence(optional.)

**Everyone has the potential to lead at varying levels ? some are more aware of it than others. Some acquire knowledge and understanding necessary for the demonstration (via example) of both, intrinsic and extrinsic qualities pertaining to good leadership, whilst others (perhaps highly intellectual-IQ), through lack of wisdom tend to ignore the intrinsic element essential to both, good leadership and followership.

In other words an authentic leader must be able and desire to communicate at ALL levels and imagine him/herself in the place of those whom he/she is leading ? which in effect means that a leader must be prepared to partake as a follower when the situation arises. People in general are more motivated through example rather than words. Hence, positive actions supported by relevant dialog will motivate people achieve both individual and collective goals on behalf of business enterprises and society in general.

*An introduction of the relationship between EI and effective leadership by analysis of 19 elements of human behavior within 4 domains. Through feedback and interaction students work towards the development of a personal action plan that can be implemented in the workplace.
